Robotic Sound-Source Localization and Tracking Using Interaural Time Difference and Cross- Correlation

چکیده
Interaural Time Difference (ITD) is used in the mammalian auditory system to compute the angle of incidence of an acoustic sound-source on the horizontal plane. This paper describes how ITD can be incorporated into a robotic acoustic tracking system to enable the robot to locate and orient towards sound-sources within its environment. We describe a system compiled using cross-correlation and auditory cues that has a lot of potential for robot soundsource localization.

Estimation of Trajectory and Location for Mobile Sound Source
In this paper, we present an approach to estimate mobile sound source trajectory. An artificially created sound source signal is used in this work. The main aim of this paper is to estimate the mobile object trajectory via sound processing methods. The performance of generalized cross correlation techniques is compared with that of noise reduction filters for the success of trajectory estimatio...
متن کاملSpatial Hearing Algorithms Based on Binaural Zero-Crossings: Sound Source Localization, Segregation, and Dereverberation
This thesis concerns a new zero-crossing-based binaural model for spatial hearing. Conventional binaural model computes cross-correlations of binaural signals for the estimation of the interaural time difference which is a primary spatial cue. However, the cross-correlationbased binaural processing model requires high computational complexity and suffers from inaccuracies in localizing sound so...
متن کاملReliability of Interaural Time Difference-Based Localization Training in Elderly Individuals with Speech-in-Noise Perception Disorder
Background: Previous studies have shown that interaural-time-difference (ITD) training can improve localization ability. Surprisingly little is, however, known about localization training vis-à-vis speech perception in noise based on interaural time difference in the envelope (ITD ENV). We sought to investigate the reliability of an ITD ENV-based training program in speech-in-noise perception a...
متن کاملApplying scattering theory to robot audition system: robust sound source localization and extraction
Robot audition by its own ears (microphones) is essential for natural human-robot communication and interface. Since a microphone is embedded in the head of a robot, the head-related transfer function (HRTF) plays an important role in sound source localization and extraction. Usually, from binaural input, the interaural phase difference (IPD) and interaural intensity difference (IID) are calcul...
متن کاملBinaural Coherence in Rooms
In a study of the binaural properties of rooms, binaural cross-correlation (CC) functions were measured in 19 one-third-octave bands, and broad band, using an artificial head and torso (KEMAR). For a fixed source-receiver distance, twenty CC functions were collected as the source and receiver were moved to different locations in the room. The peaks of the CC functions were taken as measures of ...
